Blake Snell couldn’t care less about what the Toronto Blue Jays fan base thinks of him.

The 32-year-old won his second-straight World Series Championship with the LA Dodgers earlier this month, as they defeated the Blue Jays in seven games.

Despite the win, Snell, a two-time Cy Young Award winner, wasn’t at his best. He allowed 10 runs over a combined 13 innings in the World Series. Following his second start of the series, in which the Dodgers lost 6-1, the 32-year-old irritated many Blue Jays fans by seemingly downplaying their success.

“That’s just unlucky. I’m not one to make excuses or anything close to that, but that’s just pretty unlucky,” Snell told reporters following Game 5.

The outspoken Snell didn’t seem to mind the heat he took from Blue Jays fans. In fact, if anything, he seems to welcome it.

On a recent Twitch stream, Snell responded to a fan making fun of him for the success Guerrero had against him in the World Series. Instead of choosing to ignore the comment, he poked fun at the Blue Jays’ heartbreaking defeat.

“He in Cancun,” Snell said. “Go pick him up, and then come over this way.”

In Snell’s defence, he was quick to praise the performance of Guerrero, who hit a ridiculous .397 with eight home runs and 15 RBI in 18 playoff appearances.

“Don’t clip [that],” Snell said. “Let me live my life, please. He had a great series.”

This was nothing more than a playful jab from Snell, and one that may not bother Guerrero whatsoever. That isn’t the feeling amongst the fan base, however, who are growing to resent the Dodgers’ star pitcher.


The Jays are set to take on the Dodgers early in the season, with Snell and company making the trip to Toronto for a three-game series from April 6 to April 8. Should Snell get the ball, you can expect to hear plenty of boos directed at him.
