All of the roles Disney is hiring for in Vancouver have been posted within the last month, and most of the positions offer the flexibility of a hybrid work schedule.
One of the higher-paid gigs is for a software engineer, which pays up to $151,800 per year. Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in computer science and over eight years of experience in professional software development.
“You’ll be part of a group that gets along well, whether it’s tackling a technical issue, collaborating with peers or being part of a global team’s activities,” the position listing says.
Disney is hiring another software engineer specifically to work with the hair and cloth team. Applicants require a bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, math, physics or equivalent experience. Disney is also looking for applicants who have over three years of experience in professional animation/VFX or a games environment.
Disney’s apprenticeships and internships are paid. One apprenticeship, for lighting, pays $30 per hour, and some select benefits might also be offered. Applicants must be emerging artists with less than five years of animation industry experience or recent graduates with a bachelor’s degree.
Internships pay slightly less. Disney is offering one internship for a CG generalist, which pays $25 per hour.
“Our Internship Program dives into the craft, technology, and operations behind our animated films while developing your skills and connecting you to industry mentors,” Disney says.
Disney is also offering an expression of interest for a senior compositor, which would pay up to $159,000 per year.
“This posting is an opportunity to submit your resume for future consideration; this is not a role that is open at this time. We anticipate this role may be open in the future, but we are not actively hiring for the position,” Disney says.
