If you’ve always dreamed of working for Disney, you’re in luck because the place where “dreams come true” is hiring for well-paying jobs right here in Vancouver.

Positions are being offered by both Industrial Light & Magic and Walt Disney Animation Studios.

Depending on experience, many positions offer over $130,000 a year.

Here are some of the recent job openings being offered by Disney in Vancouver.

One of the highest-paying positions is the Look Development Supervisor at ILM Vancouver. The salary range for this role is between $140,000 to $179,200. Applicants must have proven leadership experience in VFX and/or feature animation on multiple projects. As part of the application, individuals must submit a demo reel or a shot breakdown. This role is a hybrid position, meaning the employee will work two to three days on-site at ILM Vancouver’s office.

Disney is looking for an animator with at least two years of production experience. Proficiency in Maya or equivalent software is preferred. They should also have a background in traditional hand-drawn, computer, or stop-motion animation. This role has a salary range between $100,300 to $145,420 per year.

The animation studio is also on the hunt for a senior systems engineer.

“Senior Systems Engineers are expected to drive projects across teams, demonstrate self-direction as well as leadership, and learn through experiencing both success and failure,” states Disney in its job description.

“They must build partnerships with technical and non-technical users, understand their needs, and design relevant, sustainable solutions that align with initiatives for both our Burbank and Vancouver studio locations.”

The salary for this position ranges between $115,000 to $139,000.

ILM is also hiring a senior compositor. This role is responsible for combining live-action and computer-generated elements into visual effects shots.

“The Senior Compositor ultimately maintains the aesthetic integrity and technical quality of the final image delivered to the client,” notes ILM.

Applicants should take note that this role requires some significant previous experience.

“Applicants must have at least five years of relevant professional VFX experience and at least a college level diploma in computer graphics, fine arts, design, or photography, or related field; OR at least seven years relevant professional VFX experience in lieu of education,” states the studio.

As mentioned, many of these jobs are offered by Industrial Light & Magic, whose new Vancouver studio will soon open in The Stack office tower downtown. Disney also has an office in Yaletown.
