Dine in a gorgeous snow globe at this unique Vancouver dinner event

Jan 10 2020, 8:50 pm

Have you ever picked up a snowglobe and wondered — if you could just get your hands on the machine from Honey, I Shrunk The Kids — what it would be like to actually experience life from inside one?

Well, at Vancouver’s newest restaurant pop-up Dinner With A View, you can have this experience and more, with a luxurious dinner served to you by one of Canada’s top chefs.

This exclusive pop-up dining event (with only 20 domes) is being held under the stars on Ambleside Beach in West Vancouver from January 15 to February 16. It is already 70% sold out, but you can snap up one of the remaining tickets online now.

On the night, you’ll find each unique geodesic space (AKA a fancy dome with lots of edges) decorated to resemble a terrarium, with faux flora, super-cool textiles, and beautiful lighting. Instead of the typical snowglobe with a reindeer or a castle, each globe is decorated to match one of four types of terroir: tundra, tropical, grasslands, arid, and boreal forest.

Guest’s individual domes will be frameless and clear, so you can see the beautiful view of Ambleside Beach, the downtown Vancouver skyline, and the Lion’s Gate Bridge. But don’t worry about being exposed to the elements — there’ll be lots of heating to keep you warm in your own personal igloo.

On the night, Chef Paul Moran (named Canada’s Top Chef in 2019) will be serving up a three-course menu of meat, fish, and vegan options.

Moran is currently Executive Chef at 1909 Kitchen at the Tofino Resort + Marina and is one of the world’s top chefs. He apprenticed under none other than Chef David Hawksworth at Vancouver’s award-winning West restaurant and won the S. Pellegrino Best Chef Under 30 title in 2015 as well as the Hawksworth Young Chef Award.

Chef Moran will infuse local ingredients into his menu for Dinner With A View. “I’m excited to be a part of it. As a life-long forager, I love connecting people with food in an outdoor setting,” says Moran.

Each dome can seat a minimum of four people and a maximum of six. Each dome costs $79.99 (plus GST) with the promo code HIVE60 and each individual guest’s dinner costs $109.99 (plus GST).
