Development Buzz: 633 Main St. Chinatown

Dec 19 2017, 1:43 pm

Vancouver’s Chinatown is getting another shot in the arm with this recent proposal by Blue Sky Properties. The proposal is for a 16-storey mixed-use building with street level commercial and 151 residential units. The maximum height being proposed is 150 ft. (45.7 m). They’re also proposing 158 parking spaces, which I hope gets reduced considerably.

The recent proposals for Chinatown are just what the neighbourhood needs, more residents. This building will be tall relative to the area and just like other recent proposals not much about this building reminds me of Chinatown. Unless of course that wall art on the side of this proposal is the developers idea of integrating the design with the history of Chinatown.  Really hoping the city realizes this and asks for some design integration.
