Dallas Mavericks reveal details about trip to Vancouver and they're going to SFU

The Dallas Mavericks are indeed coming to Greater Vancouver.
More precisely, they’re coming to Simon Fraser University in Burnaby.
While news of the NBA team’s trip north leaked 10 days ago, it was short on details. Today, the Mavs made it official, announcing that they’ll hold training camp at SFU’s Burnaby campus Sept. 30 to Oct. 4.
“All practices will be closed to the public, and a schedule with specific practice and media availability information will be shared prior to the start of camp,” the Mavericks announced in a media release.

While Dallas finished 10th in the Western Conference last season with a 39-43 record, their team isn’t short on star power. Klay Thompson, Anthony Davis, and Kyrie Irving are all under contract with Dallas, though Irving is likely out until January with an injury.
This will also be the first NBA training camp for Cooper Flagg, the 18-year-old phenom out of Duke University that the Mavericks picked first overall in the NBA Draft in June.
There is some Canadian content on the Mavs, in the form of centre Dwight Powell, power forward Olivier-Maxence Prosper, and assistant coach Jay Triano. Triano, who is a former head coach of the Toronto Raptors and Canadian national team, starred at SFU during his university playing days.
It’s going to be a busy few weeks of basketball in Vancouver. The Mavs are not the only NBA team visiting the Lower Mainland, as the Toronto Raptors and Denver Nuggets will be playing a preseason game at Rogers Arena on Oct. 6.
The WNBA is also making its first visit to Vancouver, as the Seattle Storm and Atlanta Dream play a regular-season game at Rogers Arena on Aug. 15.
