The NBA is heading back to Vancouver — at least for a week or so.
According to independent NBA insider Marc Stein, the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks will be holding their training camp in Vancouver this fall, starting either in late September or early October.
As the Cowboys hit Oxnard, sources tell @TheSteinLine and @DLLS_Mavs that the Mavericks are expected to hold training camp in Vancouver this fall after Las Vegas in 2024.
That and much more in my soon-to-publish Sunday Best notes … unless they hold until Monday.

Most NBA training camps typically last a week or so before teams begin cutting their rosters down as they head into the preseason.
Stein did not yet name a location.
The Mavericks have yet to officially confirm the news or any other details of their training camp. Offside has reached out to the Mavericks for more information and will update accordingly.
The training camp will also be one of the first chances for fans to get a look at Cooper Flagg, the No. 1 overall pick in this past year’s NBA Draft.
The training camp is a first for the Mavericks — but not for the NBA — in the city.
The Toronto Raptors have held their training camp six times in Greater Vancouver (2010, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2018, and 2023). The Raptors also held camp in Victoria in 2017 and 2022.
Will the NBA ever come back to Vancouver full-time?
Ever since the Vancouver Grizzlies left town in 2001 after a six-year run, fans have been wondering if the NBA would return to town.
While dreams of another Canadian expansion team might be off in the distance, the short answer: there’s always a chance.
Last month, NBA commissioner Adam Silver floated the possibility of expansion on an appearance on The Dan Patrick Show.
“I do believe certain markets potentially can be added to the NBA, and that’s what we’re going to look at. I think part of it is geographic. [The United States is] a big country. Making sure we’re represented all around the country. And then over time, maybe there’s more we can do in Canada, and Mexico City is a city we’ve talked about before,” Silver said.
So while there might not be any immediate rumblings of another team heading back to British Columbia anytime soon, you can never say never.
