Officials with Fraser Health have announced a new COVID-19 testing centre opening in South Surrey.

The site will open on December 8 and will be located at 3800 King George Highway, at TransLink’s South Surrey Park and Ride at the junction of Highway 99. According to health officials, the site will offer increased access to testing and will process between 500 and 700 tests per day when operating at full capacity.

Appointments can be booked using an online tool when the site opens, and drive-in testing will also be offered seven days a week between 9 am and 4 pm. Drop-ins without appointments are also available throughout the region.

Fraser Health adds that since expanding testing in June, capacity has increased from an average of 600 to 700 tests a day to more than 5,000 tests at COVID-19 collection centres across the region.

“At this time, it is critically important for people living in the Fraser Health region to use the COVID-19 assessment tool and get tested as soon as you have COVID-19-like symptoms, even mild ones,” says the health authority. “Please don’t wait, and book or drop by one of our COVID-19 test collection centres.”
