BC reports one virus-related death and 559 new cases in last 24 hours
BC health officials said on Tuesday that 559 new coronavirus cases have been confirmed in the province, bringing the provincially recorded total to 77,822.
During a press conference, BC Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry said that by specific health region, this equates to 132 new cases of COVID-19 in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, 278 in the Fraser Health region, 39 in the Island Health region, 43 in the Interior Health region, 66 in the Northern Health region, and one person who normally resides outside of Canada.
There are 4,677 active cases of COVID-19 in the province. There are 238 individuals currently hospitalized with COVID-19, 69 of whom are in intensive care. The remaining people are recovering at home in self-isolation.

Currently, 7,881 people are under active public health monitoring as a result of identified exposure to known cases, and there has been one new COVID-19-related death, for a total of 1,336 deaths in British Columbia.
A total of 36,952 people who tested positive for COVID-19 have now recovered, and to date, 287,950 doses of vaccine have been distributed, 58,896 of which are second doses.
