BC health officials announce 694 new COVID-19 cases

British Columbia health officials announced 694 new test-positive COVID-19 cases on Thursday, bringing the total number of recorded cases in the province to 35,422.

During a press conference, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry said that broken down by health region, this equates to 114 new cases in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, 465 in the Fraser Health region, 10 in the Island Health region, 82 in the Interior Health region, and 23 in the Northern Health region.

Currently, there are 9,103 active COVID-19 cases in the province, and another 10,849 people are under public health monitoring as a result of identified exposure to known cases.

There are 325 individuals hospitalized with COVID-19, 80 of whom are in intensive care. The remaining people with COVID-19 are recovering at home in self-isolation.

There have been 12 more deaths in the past 24 hours as well, bringing the provincial death toll to 481.

Henry said that 24,928 individuals who tested positive have now recovered.
