BC health officials announced 1,667 more people tested positive COVID-19 over the three-day reporting period this weekend.
Between Friday and Saturday, 652 cases were discovered. Between Saturday and Sunday, another 486 cases, and between Sunday and Monday, 529 were recorded.
Broken down by health region, that works out to 283 new cases in Vancouver Coastal Health, 1,084 in Fraser Health, 21 in Island Health, 189 in Interior Health, and 90 in Northern Health.
Another 41 people died from their infections over the weekend, the majority of them in long term care homes. This brings BC’s death toll to 765.
“We know that this is such a challenging time,” Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry said during her news conference. “We mourn with you and we feel our loss.”

The province has now seen 47,067 total infections over the course of the pandemic, with 35,453 people already recovered.
There are 9,718 active COVID-19 infections in BC right now. Of those, 341 people are in hospital including 80 people in the ICU.
