Cory Schneider to Play First Regular Season Game Against Calgary Tonight

Dec 19 2017, 11:44 am

Tonight will be the night that Cory Schneider finally gets his first taste of regular season action. With Roberto Luongo down and a less than stellar performance from Sanford last game coach Alain Vigneault has decided to showcase the “future” against the Flames.
Is this the right move?It seems as though it would have been better to let Schneider play against Columbus on Monday, but then again there is no time like the present. Having lost to the Flames on Thursday the Canucks will be hungry and with Schneider in net they can not afford to play sloppy in their own end like last game.

The Canucks embark on a tough 7 game road trip and Schneider was likely to get a start or two anyways, so why not tonight on HNIC against the Flames

Now with Roberto injured, this also allows the Canucks to showcase their possible future trade bait. Think about it, if Roberto doesn’t sign a contract extension (which I think he will) then at least we’ll see what kind of NHLer Schneider is. However, if Roberto signs, then we got an excellent prospect to trade and allow us to possibly bring a solid front line centre into the mix.

Go Canucks Go!
