Vancouver Coastal Health has added two high schools in Vancouver and Richmond to its list of institutions with potential coronavirus exposure.

Someone showed up to Richmond Secondary School while contagious from October 7 to 9, according to the health authority. The school is located in central Richmond just off Minoru Boulevard.

Another person was at Britannia Secondary School in East Vancouver while infected with coronavirus from September 30 to October 2 and again on October 5, according to VCH.

Contact tracers reach out to the individuals’ close contacts directly, but everyone at school on those dates should monitor for symptoms for 14 days.

BC surpassed 11,000 total coronavirus infections since the start of the pandemic Thursday, and Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry cautioned young people that even if you’re in a low-risk group, it’s impossible to predict who will have severe outcomes.
