Coronavirus-positive player prompts Richmond badminton centre to close

Richmond’s ClearOne Badminton Centre temporarily closed this week after a player who tested positive for coronavirus visited earlier this month.

The sports facility posted on its website that the customer last visited on Tuesday, August 18 between 10 am and noon. Three days later, the player got their positive test result back.

“We have elected to voluntarily close our centre Tuesday, August 25th, for further sanitizing to ensure the safety of everyone,” the centre’s website bulletin said.

The other guests who played with the coronavirus-positive athlete also go tested, and their results came back negative, ClearOne said. The centre thanked its guests for their patience as it deep-cleans the facility, and reminded them not to come in if they’re feeling ill.

ClearOne has several coronavirus precautions in place, including limiting the number of people inside at once, having staff wear face masks, enforcing physical distancing, and frequent cleaning.
