BC health officials report 58 new coronavirus cases

BC health officials said on Tuesday that 58 new coronavirus cases have been confirmed in the province, bringing the provincial total of recorded cases to 5,242.

In a joint written statement, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and BC Health Minister Adrian Dix said this equates to 1,683 cases of COVID-19 in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, 2,762 in the Fraser Health region, 168 in the Island Health region, 425 in the Interior Health region, 128 in the Northern Health region and 76 cases of people who reside outside of Canada.

“There are 925 active cases of COVID-19 in the province, 2,675 people who are under active public health monitoring as a result of identified exposure to known cases,” the statement said. “Currently, 22 individuals are hospitalized with COVID-19, seven of whom are in intensive care. The remaining people with COVID-19 are recovering at home in self-isolation.”

“There have been no new COVID-19 related deaths since yesterday, leaving the total number of deaths in the province at 203.”

A total of 4,114 cases are now considered fully recovered in the province, as well.
