Possible coronavirus exposure reported at Surrey high school

A possible COVID-19 exposure has been reported at a Surrey high school.

According to a notice sent to the Panorama Ridge Secondary school community, an individual who tested positive for COVID-19 attended the school on September 8, 2020.

“Please note that there were no students on-site at the school on the date of this possible exposure,” noted Superintendent of Schools Jordan Tinney, in the letter.

“If you do not receive a phone call or letter, please continue to attend school and monitor for symptoms compatible with COVID-19 as per our school policy,” noted Tinney.

The notice was also followed by a confirmation bulletin from Fraser Health

“Public health staff have initiated contact tracing to identify any staff that need to self-isolate or self- monitor for symptoms,” stated Fraser Health.

In a statement to Daily Hive, the health authority said that it was made aware of the exposure on Friday, September 11.

“At this time, we want to reassure parents and students at Panorama Ridge Secondary School who may have concerns about COVID-19 that this exposure is limited to this specific date only,” said Fraser Health in a statement,

“No ongoing COVID-19 risk to staff and students at the school from this exposure has been identified.  We will continue to work with the school and school district to provide students and parents with timely information.”
