BC health officials report 516 new COVID-19 cases

Health officials in British Columbia announced 516 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Friday, bringing the total number of recorded cases in the province to 25,472.

Broken down by health region, the new cases equate to 148 in the Vancouver Coastal Health region, 294 in the Fraser Health region, 17 in the Island Health region, 31 in the Interior Health region, and 25 in the Northern Health region.

There are currently 7,122 active cases in BC, with 227 people in hospital and 57 in ICU.

Currently, 9,871 people are under active public health monitoring as a result of identified exposure to known cases.

There have been 10 new COVID-19-related deaths, for a total of 331 deaths in British Columbia.

A total of 17,477 people who tested positive have now recovered.
