Health officials report 78 new coronavirus cases in BC

British Columbia has reported 78 new cases of COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry announced on Thursday, bringing the total number of recorded cases in the province to 4,274.

Broken down by health region, there have been 1,306 cases in Vancouver Coastal Health, 2,242 in Fraser Health, 150 in Island Health, 398 in Interior Health, 106 in Northern Health, and 72 cases of people who reside outside of Canada.

There have been no new deaths linked to coronavirus in the province, leaving BC’s total death toll at 196.

Currently, there are 578 active cases of coronavirus in the province. Of these, 17 are in hospital, four of whom are in intensive care.

A total of 3,500 people who tested positive have now recovered, as well.

Currently, “1,878 people are in isolation across all health authorities in the province,” Henry said.
