A COVID-19 case has been detected at a GoodLife Fitness facility in Metro Vancouver.

In a statement to Daily Hive, Tracy Matthews, Vice President of Operations, said that an associate at the Burnaby Northgate Club recently tested positive for the virus.

The affected individual was at the club during the following dates and times:

  • September 1 from 10:15 am to 10:30 pm
  • September 2 from 11:30 am to 9:30 pm
  • September 3 from 9:30 am to 8:30 pm
  • September 4 from 8:30 am to 7:30 pm
  • September 5 from 9:30 am to 7:30 pm

Matthews says that the employee “followed all appropriate precautions” including wearing a mask during their shifts and not coming into close contact with anyone else in the club.

“The associate informed GoodLife shortly after receiving the positive test, and we took immediate action to communicate with our Members and Associates.”

At this time, Fraser Health has told the location that “no further action is required” and they will continue to remain open.

This is the third known occurrence of a person with coronavirus visiting this location. A case was documented in late July as well as in late June from a member that visited over a 12-day period.

GoodLife says that some of their health and safety measures include wayfinding signage, increased space between equipment, reducing the capacity of their online booking system, and cleaning after each hour of member activity.
