A Future for Memory: Art and Life After the Great East Japan Earthquake, February 11 to September 5, 2021
It’s beginning to sound a lot like Christmas, especially when Vancouver’s world-famous Chor Leoni bring their popular annual holiday show to Orpheum Theatre next weekend with special guests, the elite dancers of Arts Umbrella’s Performance Research Project.
On Saturday, December 21, Christmas with Chor Leoni: Angels Dance will treat guests to traditional Holiday music from the Southwest, Appalachia, Europe, and Canada. The 60-voiced men’s choir and guest dancers will perform two shows — 4 pm and 8 pm — bringing choral beauty and magical modern ballet together for the holiday collaboration of the season.
Treat yourself and your family to this holiday show and you can expect some of the world’s best performances: Chor Leoni won Chorus America’s 2019 Margaret Hillis Award for Choral Excellence — the most prestigious choral prize in North America. Vancouver’s “Singing Lions” have also been named Best Classical Vocal Ensemble in Vancouver for six years running. This world-class choir will be joined by Tina Chang, piano; Vivian Chen, harp; Ed Henderson, guitar; and Katie Rife, percussion – a full instrumental ensemble to add that special magic to your holiday experience.
The Orpheum Theatre is also a perfect venue to start a week of Christmas festivities. Check out the antique décor, beautiful staircases, and ceiling mural, plus enjoy drinks with friends and family before the show and during intermission.
Tickets for the concert are available online and start at just $20, and only $10 for students with ID.
