All the celebrities spotted at Vancouver's last FIFA World Cup match

That’s a wrap on the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Vancouver.
It was Switzerland, once again, claiming victory at BC Place on Tuesday afternoon, defeating Colombia 4-3 in penalties to advance to the World Cup quarter-finals. It was the last game of the tournament to be played on Canadian soil and ended an unforgettable run for the city.
World Cup matches became a must-watch event in the city over the past couple of weeks. Fans of various nations marched throughout the city, celebrated dramatic victories, and grieved tough losses.
It was a spectacle in every sense of the word, and it drew the attention of a few celebrities along the way who wanted to get in on the fun. With Tuesday’s Round of 16 match being the last World Cup game in Vancouver, a few notable names were in attendance.
Here is who we spotted at BC Place…
Gianni Infantino
With Colombia-Switzerland being the last Round of 16 match left in the World Cup, it was no surprise to see FIFA president Gianni Infantino at BC Place.
The 56-year-old Swiss native was in attendance to watch his homeland advance to the World Cup quarter-finals for the first time since 1954.
This is at least the second time he attended a match in Vancouver, after previously watching Australia take on Türkiye last month.
Trevor Linden
A Vancouver Canucks legend was in the house to watch Vancouver’s World Cup send-off game.
Trevor Linden has long been a part of hockey royalty in the city, having played 16 years with the Canucks between 1988 and 2008. The 56-year-old ranks fourth in Canucks franchise history with 733 points and is third all-time in franchise games played at 1,140.
Tom Cochrane
The game wouldn’t have felt complete without a performance from one of Canada’s finest musicians.
To keep fans engaged during a 0-0 tie at halftime, legendary singer Tom Cochrane took to the stage at BC Place to sing his iconic hit “Life Is A Highway” in front of the sold-out crowd.
The 73-year-old rock singer hails from Lynn Lake, Man., and has won eight Juno Awards over the course of his career.
A fitting Canadian sendoff, with a splash of pyrotechnics.

Thatcher Demko
It was a mix of past and present Canucks players in the BC Place bleachers on Tuesday.
Current Canucks goaltender Thatcher Demko was also in attendance and seemed to be having a great time during the Round of 16 match. The American netminder seems to be spending at least part of his time in Vancouver.
He was shown on the Jumbotron trying to get the crowd hyped up.
Kirk McLean and Jon Montgomery
Demko wasn’t the only Canucks goalie taking in the action, as Kirk McLean also made an appearance.
The 60-year-old ex-hockey player spent 11 seasons playing with the Canucks between 1987 and 1998. McLean ranks second in franchise history with 211 wins, behind only Roberto Luongo.
He was joined by Canadian Olympic champion Jon Montgomery as well. The 47-year-old is most well-known for winning Olympic gold in skeleton during the Vancouver 2010 Games.

Thomas Müller, Jürgen Klopp, and Bastian Schweinsteiger
It wasn’t just Canadian athletes making their way into the stadium, as a trio of legendary German footballers were also spotted.
Vancouver sports fans should be familiar with Whitecaps star Thomas Müller, but he was also joined by countrymen Jürgen Klopp and Bastian Schweinsteiger.
The German soccer legends were there working as broadcasters.

Radamel Falcao
Another international football legend was also in the house.
Radamel Falcao was watching his native Colombia vie for a spot in the World Cup quarter-finals, and he seemed to be pretty popular with Colombian fans in attendance. Falcao is widely-regarded as one of the best Colombian soccer players of all time and holds the national team record with 36.
The 40-year-old has not yet retired from the sport, but was left off of Colombia’s World Cup squad due to declining play.
Jimmy Butler
An unexpected NBA player also made the trek to Vancouver to take in the action.
Golden State Warriors star Jimmy Butler was donning Colombia gear in the BC Place bleachers. The 36-year-old has a strong friendship with Colombian star footballer James Rodríguez and was likely in attendance to support him.
Butler is a two-time NBA all-star and has been named to the NBA all-defensive team on three separate occasions.
