Canyon Lights cancelled for holiday season

Dec 9 2020, 9:00 pm

Canyon Lights at Capilano Suspension Bridge Park has been cancelled for the remainder of the season after BC health officials extended gathering and event restrictions until January 8, 2021.

The annual holiday-themed event lets guests wander through the park at night, admiring the thousands of lights illuminating the bridge, platforms, and tree-walk trails.

This year there will be no live music, no scavenger hunt for children, and no holiday craft events like years past, a spokesperson told Daily Hive via email.

However, the park is still open for regular admission from 11 am to 6 pm daily. The area has still been strung up with lights to retain the festive atmosphere.

Guests are reminded that masks are mandatory throughout the park.

Canyon Lights was supposed to run from December 1 to January 3. The park closed during October and November to prepare for it, choosing to pause operations because it anticipated low attendance during those months as a result of the pandemic.
