The Vancouver Canucks could be icing a very short-handed lineup tonight.
The team will be missing J.T. Miller, who is taking a leave of absence from the club, and they could also be without winger Conor Garland.
Garland was not at morning skate and is questionable to play tonight as he awaits the birth of his first child, per Rick Tocchet through the CanucksInsider X account.
Rick Tocchet says Conor Garland might be welcoming his first child today.
Not sure if he will play tonight.

Both Miller and Garland have been among the Canucks best forwards so far this season. They have 29 points between them, and both rank in the top-three in team scoring.
The Canucks are already missing Brock Boeser, Derek Forbort, and goalie Thatcher Demko, who has yet to play this season, for their game tonight.
“Everybody has got to step up. Opportunity to step up and get chances. It will take a whole team effort tonight,” said Elias Pettersson.
The club faces a huge challenge in the New York Rangers who are visiting Rogers Arena. The Rangers have the fifth-best points percentage in the entire NHL. Led by stars like Igor Shesterkin, Artemi Panarin, and Adam Fox, the Eastern Conference team has one of the strongest rosters across the entire league.
“They’re a skillful team. I was looking at the lineup and it’s going to be a skillful but hard-fought battle tonight,” continued Pettersson.
The Canucks made some roster moves to solidify their roster ahead of tonight’s contest. The team recalled winger Arshdeep Bains from the AHL. The BC native has one goal in eight games so far this year.
General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that F Arshdeep Bains has been recalled from Abbotsford (AHL) and D Elias Pettersson has been assigned to Abbotsford (AHL).
