J.T. Miller’s time with the Vancouver Canucks is officially over.

After weeks of intense trade speculation, the two-way centre has been dealt to the New York Rangers, per multiple reports.

The Rangers and Canucks came close to completing a Miller trade two weeks ago, but the deal fell apart at the last second. This time, they managed to get it over the line.

Centre Filip Chytil is one of the players going to the Canucks, according to TSN’s Farhan Lalji. The 25-year-old has 11 goals and 20 points in 41 games this year. He recorded 22 goals and 45 points two years ago before missing much of last season due to injury.

The Czechia native costs $4.4375 million against the cap and is signed for another two seasons after this one.

The Canucks are also getting defenceman Victor Mancini and a draft pick, per ESPN’s Emily Kaplan. The 22-year-old was the 159th overall pick in the 2022 NHL draft. He has five points in 15 NHL games this season and another 10 points in 23 AHL games.

The draft pick acquired by the Canucks is a top-13 protected first-rounder. If the pick lands in the top 13, it will roll over to next year.

The Canucks are also sending Erik Brannstrom and Jackson Dorrington to the Rangers, per the NY Post’s Larry Brooks.

The Canucks are not retaining any money on Miller’s $8 million per season contract, according to Daily Faceoff’s Frank Seravalli. The deal runs through the 2029-30 season.

The 31-year-old will not play for the Canucks against the Dallas Stars tonight and has left the building, per TSN’s Darren Dreger. He has 35 points in 40 games so far this year and recorded 103 points last year.

Miller was drafted by and previously played on the Rangers for 341 games.

Miller’s departure means the end of the public feud with co-star Elias Pettersson. President Jim Rutherford confirmed the long-time rumoured dispute in a recent bombshell interview.

Just because Miller is now gone, that doesn’t mean a Pettersson trade is off the table. The team has been listening to offers on both players and nearly dealt the Swedish star to the Carolina Hurricanes not too long ago.

The Canucks and Rangers play next on March 22 when they face off in New York.
