The Vancouver Canucks may be close to adding another forward to the mix.

Just a week after trading Dakota Joshua to the Toronto Maple Leafs, a new report has connected the Canucks to free agent forward Jack Roslovic. While no contract has been officially signed, CHEK’s Rick Dhaliwal reported on Wednesday morning that the two sides have been in contact.

“The Canucks continue to talk with UFA Jack Roslovic’s camp,” Dhaliwal wrote on social media.

This isn’t the first time that the Canucks have been linked to the 28-year-old Ohio native. Dhaliwal first reported on Vancouver’s interest last week, saying that the two sides have been talking about a potential deal.

However, there were some questions as to whether or not the Canucks would opt for a trade for a player like Marco Rossi or Mason McTavish instead. Yet, with only about $4 million in available cap space remaining, those players may be too expensive for Vancouver.

According to Elite Prospects’ Cam Robinson, the Canucks should be able to afford Roslovic, who is reportedly seeking a two-to-three-year deal around the $3 million range.

Roslovic scored 22 goals and 29 points with the Carolina Hurricanes last season and was originally drafted 25th overall by the Winnipeg Jets in the 2015 NHL draft. Listed as a centre by NHL.com, Roslovic mainly played on the wing during his time in Carolina.

With the Canucks in need of another scoring centre, he will likely slot in down the middle if a contract gets signed. This would give the team some options in potentially moving Filip Chytil down to the third line if needed.

We will have to wait and see if the Canucks can get this one over the finish line.
