Vancouver Canucks fans better get their afternoon naps in this season.
Ever since British Columbia decided in March to permanently stick on daylight saving time, Canucks fans knew this would likely impact the number of late-night games being played.
It’s something that Alberta has had to deal with for years, with Hockey Night in Canada games always beginning at 8 p.m. MT. Now, it’s time for the West Coast to adapt as well.
The full Vancouver Canucks schedule was released on Thursday, featuring the first 84-game slate in more than 30 years. It resulted in the season beginning for Vancouver in September for the first time in franchise history.
Vancouver is currently three hours behind the Eastern Time Zone, but that will change on Nov. 1 when most of Canada switches back to standard time, until March 14, 2027.
The Canucks have nine home games that are scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. next season:
- Saturday, Nov. 21 vs. Minnesota Wild
- Saturday, Dec. 5 vs. Dallas Stars
- Saturday, Dec. 19 vs. San Jose Sharks
- Saturday, Jan. 9 vs. Florida Panthers
- Saturday, Jan. 16 vs. Columbus Blue Jackets
- Saturday, Feb. 13 vs. Winnipeg Jets
- Saturday, Feb. 20 vs. Colorado Avalanche
- Saturday, Feb. 27 vs. Calgary Flames
- Wednesday, March 3 vs. Chicago Blackhawks
In addition to the nine home games, five road contests are currently scheduled to start at 8 p.m. Vancouver time. The United States is talking about remaining on daylight saving time permanently as well, which would affect start times. So stay tuned.

The most prominent contest on the schedule is happening on Sunday, Oct. 25, when Quinn Hughes makes his return to Rogers Arena as a member of the Minnesota Wild. Hughes played his former club once last season, but that took place at the Grand Casino Arena in Minnesota. The Wild beat Vancouver 5-2 in that contest, where Hughes had one assist and was a +4 in the victory.
Hughes will return to Vancouver for a second time on Saturday, Nov. 21. That game will also mark the first 8 p.m. home start for the Canucks.
Here’s when five other noteworthy Canucks from last season will return to Rogers Arena:
- Friday, Nov. 14 vs. New York Rangers, 7 p.m. (Marcus Pettersson’s return)
- Saturday, Dec. 5 vs. Dallas Stars, 8 p.m. (Tyler Myers’ return)
- Saturday, Dec. 19 vs. San Jose Sharks, 8 p.m. (Kiefer Sherwood’s return)
- Monday, Dec. 21 vs. Utah Mammoth, 7 p.m. (Adam Foote’s return)
- Saturday, Jan. 16 vs. Columbus Blue Jackets, 8 p.m. (Conor Garland’s return)
The Canucks will close out their regular season on Saturday, April 10, against the Calgary Flames,Ā marking the last game ever atĀ the Scotiabank Saddledome.
