Vancouver Canucks fans will need to acquaint themselves with a few new faces this upcoming season.
Ryan Johnson had himself a busy start to the offseason in his first free agency as Canucks GM. The team inked a total of six players so far, most of whom are expected to be regulars on Vancouver’s NHL roster.
Those signings included veteran defencemen Jamie Oleksiak and Luke Schenn, NHL forwards Paul Cotter and Akil Thomas, and a few AHLers in Trey Fix-Wolansky and Matthew Stienburg.
On top of that, Vancouver also traded for longtime Montreal Canadiens forward Brendan Gallagher.Ā
But which numbers will these newcomers wear for the Canucks? The team put most of those questions to bed, revealing the jersey numbers for Gallagher, Oleksiak, Schenn, and Cotter on Saturday.

Thomas, Fix-Wolansky, and Stienburg being left out is probably due to the fact that they don’t have guaranteed NHL spots yet.
Gallagher is the biggest offseason acquisition for the Canucks so far this summer. He spent the last 14 seasons with Montreal, where he wore #11 for the majority of his tenure. The only season he didn’t spend with #11 was his rookie season, where he donned the #73 in 2012-13 before switching.
In Vancouver, the 34-year-old will wear the #7 Canucks jersey, last worn by Pierre-Olivier Joseph last season.
Staying with the forward group, Paul Cotter has chosen to go with #47 with Vancouver. The veteran forward wore the same number with the New Jersey Devils and will be the first Canucks player to don the number since Noah Juulsen between 2022 and 2025.
On the backend, Oleksiak has opted for the #4 sweater, which will be a first for the 33-year-old. He previously wore #24 with the Seattle Kraken and #5 and #43 with the Dallas Stars. He will be the first Canucks player to wear #4 since Madison Bowey did so in 2022.
Finally, Schenn’s number should come as no surprise, as he will once again take the #2 sweater, which is the same one he had during his first two Vancouver stints. He is the last player in Canucks history to wear this number.
