Vancouver Canucks players are back on the ice at Rogers Arena
Summer’s almost over, and the ice is back in at Rogers Arena.
With less than three weeks left before training camp, Vancouver Canucks players are trickling back into town. And on Monday, they flocked to the rink.
We identified 16 current players skating at Rogers Arena on Monday from the visuals shared by the team’s official social media accounts. That includes new players like Brendan Gallagher, Jamie Oleksiak, Luke Schenn, and Paul Cotter.

Other players spotted include forwards Brock Boeser, Drew O’Connor, Liam Öhgren, Linus Karlsson, Max Sasson, and Aatu Räty; defencemen Filip Hronek, Zeev Buium, Tom Willander, Elias Pettersson, and Victor Mancini; and goaltender Nikita Tolopilo.
Informal skates will continue until training camp begins in Penticton on Sept. 17, when new head coach Manny Malhotra will be running things.

This is a time of year when the Canucks might miss having a dedicated practice facility, given that there are four concerts scheduled at Rogers Arena in the next 12 days (Tame Impala on Sept. 5 and 6, Cody Johnson on Sept. 11, and Weezer on Sept. 12). Canucks players will need to find ice elsewhere on those dates.
While not much is expected of the Canucks next season in terms of wins, the club is expecting to see a big change in their culture. That was obvious after listening to co-presidents of hockey operations Henrik and Daniel Sedin, as well as general manager Ryan Johnson, when they were introduced in their new roles last spring.
We’ll soon begin to see how that manifests itself.
