Today’s the day.

The Vancouver Canucks have called a press conference at Rogers Arena on Thursday afternoon for a “major announcement.” The team did not say who would be present at the press conference, but expect to see Henrik and Daniel Sedin there, as well as Ryan Johnson.

Canucks owner Francesco Aquilini will be in attendance too, per Bob Marjanovich.

According to multiple reports, the Canucks are set to announce Johnson as their new general manager, and with the Sedins as his boss.

Henrik and Daniel will be “co-presidents,” according to CHEK’s Rick Dhaliwal. They’ll take over from Jim Rutherford, who reportedly cleaned out his office on Wednesday, as the top hockey decision makers in the organization.

The press conference begins at 1 p.m. and will surely be streamed live by the Canucks via their social media channels.

It’s been nearly four weeks since the Canucks fired Patrik Allvin as general manager. Rutherford followed that up by revealing last week that he would be stepping down as president of hockey operations after the draft and transitioning into an advisor role.

Adam Foote’s future is still unclear. Rutherford said previously that the new general manager would pick his head coach.

Does that pave the way for Manny Malhotra? He coached the Abbotsford Canucks to a Calder Cup championship with Johnson as the AHL team’s GM.

Then there are assistant general managers Emilie Castonguay and Cammi Granato, who are apparently on the hot seat. Judging by reports, it sounds like one or both could be let go.
