Just three NHL mascots can call themselves Hall of Famers.
Fin is looking to become the fourth.
The Vancouver Canucks’ mascot for the past 25 years, Fin is a nominee for the Mascot Hall of Fame.
“With over 500 passionate nominations, it was a very difficult decision. Fur and feathers flew,” the Mascot Hall of Fame said in a press release. “Eleven of the most beloved mascots in sports are on the ballot this year, representing professional and collegiate programs across North America.”
The Mascot Hall of Fame inducts two to six mascots each year. Here’s who Fin is up against for the Class of 2026:
- Split (Savannah Bananas)
- Hook ‘Em (University of Texas Longhorns)
- Miles (Denver Broncos)
- The Pirate Parrot (Pittsburgh Pirates)
- Mrs. Met (New York Mets)
- Goldy Gopher (University of Minnesota)
- Buzz (Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets)
- Cosmo the Cougar (Brigham Young University)
- Purdue Pete (Purdue University)
- Cocky (University of South Carolina)
SJ Sharkie (San Jose Sharks), Youppi! (Montreal Canadiens), and Tommy Hawk (Chicago Blackhawks) are the only NHL mascots to date to reach Hall of Fame status.

Fun fact about Fin, he’s been played by the same man since the whale mascot was first introduced in 2001, whether it be a game or a special event. The Canucks have played more than 1,000 games since then (regular season + playoffs).
Fans can vote for their favourite mascot up to twice a day through the Mascot Hall of Fame website, until July 26.
“There will be a lot of counting, with fat fuzzy fingers, but we hope the 2026 Inductees will be revealed the week of August 3rd,” the Mascot Hall of Fame said.
