Brandon Prust has been fined $5,000 by the NHL for spearing Bruins forward Brad Marchand in the family jewels.
The incident occurred late in the Canucks’ embarrassing 4-0 loss to the Bruins on Saturday night.
While there’s no shortage of people in Vancouver, and around the NHL, that would love to do the same thing to Marchand, clearly there’s no room in the game for this kind of behaviour.
It was dirty, but the fine is consistent with how the NHL has penalized this in the past. Marchand’s former teammate, Milan Lucic, was fined $5,000 for spearing Red Wings defenceman Danny Dekeyser in the nether regions during the 2014 playoffs.
