Canuck Place Adventure Race: Team Sunshine from the Sunshine Coast

Dec 19 2017, 7:40 pm

The 2014 Canuck Place Adventure Race is ramping up its preparations for this year’s event and so are the participants, including six teams (and counting) from the Sunshine Coast! Twenty-four dedicated women (ranging from 15 to 58 years of age) are working together to raise funds for Canuck Place Children’s Hospice through this year’s Adventure Race.

Team Sunshine is the biggest Adventure Race team from the Sunshine Coast – ever! Their enthusiasm knows no bounds as they train and fundraise regularly to reach their goals. With a collective fundraising goal of $24,000, Team Sunshine has organized numerous fundraising initiatives and raised over $6,000 to date. They’ve also challenged all local businesses on the Sunshine Coast to donate to this year’s Canuck Place Adventure Race. With office 50/50 draws, a bake sale and even an Beer & Rib night held on Saturday, Team Sunshine is fully in the fundraising swing.

Even children have been swept up in Team Sunshine’s enthusiasm by contributing funds from their piggy banks! Some kids have even signed up for the Canuck Place Adventure Race Kids Course, while others are drawing up signs and setting up tables to accept more donations.

“I am motivated to raise funds because I love what Canuck Place does and am overwhelmed by the courage of Canuck Place children and their families,” said Tanya Rezansoff, Captain of Team Sunshine, “and when I get out there and exercise I know I am inspiring others!” And if the growth of Team Sunshine is any indication, Tanya’s inspiration has been infectious.

Let’s meet some of these highly dedicated women, and find out what motivates them to Race for a Reason:
