Vancouver Canadians cancel popular fireworks night at Nat Bailey Stadium
It’s one of the best nights on the calendar for Vancouver Canadians fans.
But another brutal wildfire season in British Columbia is forcing the baseball club to postpone the festivities at Nat Bailey Stadium.
The Canadians announced on Tuesday that they were cancelling their postgame fireworks extravaganza due to the state of emergency in the province.
“With wildfires affecting communities across B.C. and the Pacific Northwest, resources needed to safely host the show are required elsewhere,” the Canadians wrote in a social media post.
“We stand with those affected by the fires and thank the first responders working tirelessly to keep communities safe.”
There is one other fireworks extravaganza on the calendar, scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 27. No word yet on whether that will occur or not.
This is yet another year where wildfires have ravaged through the province. According to a report from The Canadian Press, seven of B.C.’s 10 worst wildfire seasons have occurred within the last 10 years. That includes the wildfires so far in 2026.
While the fireworks cancellation may be disappointing, it’s certainly understandable.
There is another draw for baseball fans in Vancouver, as the Toronto Blue Jays’ top prospect, JoJo Parker, is slated to make his debut with the Canadians shortly.
