High-risk Vancouver sex offender rearrested by VPD after Canada-wide warrant

Update: On Monday afternoon, VPD announced that Hayden McCorriston was re-arrested after being located near Granville and Robson Street. VPD said he has been returned to jail and remains in custody.


A Canada-wide warrant has been issued for a high-risk sex offender who was the subject of a public warning from Vancouver Police on Friday.

According to the VPD, 30-year-old Hayden McCorriston was last seen leaving his halfway house, located on Homer Street in downtown Vancouver, at 10:25 a.m. on April 18.

He did not return, prompting Correctional Services of Canada to issue a warrant for his arrest.

McCorriston was convicted of sexually assaulting multiple women in Burnaby and Vancouver three years ago. McCorriston is currently serving a three-year and two-month jail sentence and has a lengthy criminal history, including the following charges:

  • Five counts of sexual assault
  • Break-and-enter
  • Failure to comply with an undertaking
  • Assaulting a peace officer
  • Possession of property obtained by crime
  • Mischief
  • Robbery
  • Indecent acts
  • Assault
  • Assault by choking

He is an Indigenous man with a slim build and a shaved head. He is about 5’11” tall and was last seen wearing a blue surgical mask, a black hat, a black long-sleeve shirt, dark blue or black pants, and black shoes with white soles.

Anyone who sees McCorriston is asked to call 9-1-1 immediately.
