Canada to purchase additional 20 million doses of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says Canada will purchase an additional 20 million doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine.
In a press conference this morning, Trudeau said that with the federal government’s agreements with Moderna and Pfizer alone, Canada will now have 80 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines arriving in 2021.

“We’re on track to having every Canadian who wants a vaccine receive one by September,” said Trudeau, adding that the federal government has let all provinces and territories know how many vaccines they will be receiving every week from now until the end of February.
“This will make sure that they have the vaccines and the information they need to keep rolling out doses as quickly, as smoothly, and as efficiently as possible,” he said.
Trudeau said that the additional doses are expected to arrive in April or May.

As of January 7, there have been 548,950 doses of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines distributed in Canada.
