A look at Canada's injury updates ahead of FIFA World Cup opener

With two days until Canada’s 2026 FIFA World Cup opener in Toronto, Canada Soccer delivered some encouraging and concerning news ahead of the team’s second-last practice session.
The positive news is that Alphonso Davies (hamstring) and Ralph Priso (precautionary) both returned to warm up with the group on Wednesday for the first time this week.
Following the team warm-up, both players took part in a lighter controlled session with a lot of individual drills.
Though the status of both players’ availability for Friday’s match against Bosnia and Herzegovina remains up in the air, the update from Canada Soccer appears they are trending in the right direction.

Priso’s situation is an interesting one, as his role with the team will depend on the health of centre-back MoĂŻse Bombito, who left last week’s match against Uzbekistan earlier than expected.
At training on Wednesday, Bombito (leg) remained in modified work and would still need to be cleared for full team participation before being considered available for Friday’s opener.
Whether Priso is called upon to help fill any potential gaps in the lineup remains one of several decisions head coash Jesse Marsch and his staff will have to make on Thursday.
There’s also growing concern around star midfielder IsmaĂ«l KonĂ©, who left Canada’s scheduled training session on Wednesday before practice began with a fever, according to OneSoccer’s Kristian Jack.

KonĂ© had been training in full since the team arrived in Toronto and spoke with reporters following Tuesday’s practice.
The Montreal native has earned 40 international caps for Canada and has been key in bringing pace and creativity to the national team’s midfield.
Canada will hold its final training session before facing Bosnia and Herzegovina on Thursday, when Marsch is expected to provide yet another update.
