The top 30 home buying destinations for Canadians in the Americas
As most of Canada continues to feel the effects of winter, you can’t help but fantasize about living somewhere you can enjoy warm temperatures all year round.
And as real estate prices continue to rise in Toronto and Vancouver is still considered one of the least affordable housing markets globally, it might be time to start looking elsewhere for your home buying needs.
When it comes to finding a home buying location that isn’t in the great white north, Canadians are most likely to purchase south of the border, according to a new report from Point2 Homes, an international real estate search portal.
The report, which highlights the top 30 home buying destinations for Canadians in the Americas, used research that looked at Canadian Google searches conducted in the last 12 months based on keywords relating to homes for sale abroad and in countries located in the Americas. These countries were then ranked based on search volume.
According to the report, Mexico is the first choice for Canadians who are looking to buy a second property.
The second destination is the US, which received a jump in popularity compared to Point2 Home’s previous analysis when it was ranked fourth.
Costa Rica is the third most sought after location, falling one spot compared to three years ago when it was ranked second.
As for the least sought-after destination, Brazil ranked last.
Whether you’re in the market for a vacation home, a place for retirement, or an investment opportunity, these are the most popular home buying destinations for Canadians today.
