Canada's FIFA World Cup hero makes huge move to new club
One of the biggest stars for the Canadian national team at the 2026 FIFA World Cup has just made a huge move to a Welsh club in the English Championship.
Stephen Eustáquio, who scored the historic stoppage-time winner that sent Canada past South Africa and into the Round of 16, has signed with Swansea City AFC in England’s second tier.
On Thursday, the Welsh club announced that it had signed the 29-year-old midfielder from FC Porto on a reported two-year deal for an undisclosed fee, with an option for a third year.

Eustáquio spent the last four-and-a-half years with Porto, making more than 150 appearances while featuring in both the Champions League and Europa League. He also wore the captain’s armband for all five of Canada’s matches at the FIFA World Cup.
The Leamington, Ont., native was loaned to MLS side LAFC last season while under contract with Porto, shortly after returning from the World Cup.
He’ll now join fellow Canadian national team members Cyle Larin, Ali Ahmed, Jayden Nelson, and Alfie Jones in the English Championship.

Swansea City has spent the last eight seasons in the second tier of English football after being relegated from the Premier League following the 2017-18 season.
Last season, the Swans finished 11th and will now look to push for promotion, with three teams earning a spot in the Premier League at the end of the season.
