With a marked rise in COVID-19 cases over recent weeks, particularly in BC, Quebec, and Ontario, many people are looking for a way to stay up to date on virus trends in their geographic area.

Now, a newly launched COVID-19 tracking tool will help them do just that.

According to the Government of Canada, COVIDTrends “is a tool that provides summary data” about COVID-19 in specific areas.

Users can find information on their local area by searching municipality (city, town), or by the first three characters of their postal code, at which point data from the applicable health region will appear.

Health regions are geographic areas defined by the provincial and territorial ministries of health. Local health authorities are responsible for the delivery and administration of health services to Canadians in their region.

The dashboard is updated daily at approximately 9:30 pm EST.
