Christmas is right around the corner, and we can all agree that people are looking for an escape, some holiday fun, and a return to holiday tradition. You might even be wishing you could go back in time before 2020… and this season, you can.

Our favourite yearly tradition, Heritage Christmas at Burnaby Village Museum, is back again as of November 21, and we couldn’t be more thankful.

Whether you’re looking for a place for the entire family, a fun night out with your small bubble of friends, or a unique date idea, this one-of-a-kind event in Deer Lake Park is a can’t miss. Even better, admission is absolutely free. of. cost.

Heritage Christmas/Burnaby Village Museum

As you explore all that Heritage Christmas has to offer, sipping on a hot chocolate or apple cider, you can simultaneously drink in the spectacular lights and vintage displays. Thousands of lights follow the old streets (strung on the tall green trees), making this surreal event even more special.

Heritage Christmas and the Burnaby Village Museum is truly where history comes alive. Stroll through the old fashioned streets lined with historic buildings in this 1920s-era village. Admire the old church, school, and homes from long ago, populated with period-costumed townsfolk. Keep an eye out for the historic street car on your way to the old timey ice cream parlour.

In a time of postponements, pauses, and cancellations, Heritage Christmas is making safety its first priority so Christmas joy can be yours.

The destination is following all COVID-19 orders and recommendations set by local and provincial public health officials and authorities. This is such a special place every year, but before you travel back in time 100 years, there are a few things to keep in mind to ensure you have the best experience.

Heritage Christmas/Burnaby Village Musuem

Heritage Christmas is taking physical distancing seriously, and that means allowing only a set number of people into Burnaby Village at a time. That’s why this year, they’re offering advanced bookings, and it’s highly recommended to do so to guarantee your entry.

Please arrive half an hour prior to your booking and, as a courtesy to other guests, limit your stay to one hour. There will be no long lines to worry about and plenty of space inside.

Once inside, masks are recommended to be worn at all times, and visitors must keep two metres’ physical distance from all other guests. Masks are mandatory when inside all buildings. All groups, no more than six people, must stay together as they take in all the wonder that Heritage Christmas has in store. You’ll want to experience it together anyway.

Are you ready to experience one of the most magical, immersive, and safe events of the year? Christmas should be a time of joy and wonder, and you’ll find plenty of both here.
