Burnaby RCMP is asking the public to provide dashcam footage of a vehicle allegedly involved in a fatal hit-and-run that left a cyclist dead last week.
The incident took place on Saturday, June 29 at approximately 1:30 pm. The Burnaby RCMP received a call from BC Emergency Health Services, reporting a collision between a cyclist and a motor vehicle around the 1500-block of Gaglardi way.
The 53-year-old cyclist passed away due to their injuries. Police say the suspect vehicle, a black Jeep Cherokee SUV, fled the scene of the collision.
The driver was located a short time later on University High Street and Tower Road and taken into custody. Police believe alcohol was a contributing factor.

Police are asking anyone with dashcam footage of the black Jeep Cherokee SUV, license plate D69335 travelling along SFU and UniverCity roads on June 29 between 1 and 1:50 pm or possible witnesses to the accident to contact Cst. Kevin Connolly at (604) 348-6795 or [email protected].
Police say the vehicle may have been seen in the business area by Cornerstone and Nesters Market.
