A motorcyclist in Burnaby who was caught with a licence plate made out of paper received almost $1,000 in fines as a result of this, and multiple other actions.

On Twitter, Burnaby RCMP said the fine was handed out after one of its officers conducted a traffic stop involving the motorbike.

“Investigation revealed the licence plate was actually a photograph printed on paper. $983 worth of fines were written,” they said.

In addition to the fine, the motorcycle was impounded, and the driver received violation tickets for driving without insurance, driving without a driver’s licence, and not having a proper plate.

“This is quite possibly the most expensive paper plate of all time,” police quipped.
