10 things to do in Burnaby this June

June has arrived and it has brought many fun events to Burnaby! From Hats Off Day to Harry Jerome International Track Classic and more, here are 10 things to do around the city this month.

Hats Off Day

  • What: A big street party by Burnaby Heights merchants to celebrate the community and their customers. Enjoy music, food, kids activities, a show and shine, and more.
  • When: Saturday, June 2, 2018
  • Time: 9:30 am to 4 pm
  • Where: Burnaby Heights
  • Admission: Free

Still Creek Watershed Tour

  • What: A guided bicycle tour along the Central Valley Greenway and urban trails presented by Still Moon Arts Society and the City of Burnaby. Learn the history of Still Creek and environmental enhancement projects at stops along the way.
  • When: Sunday, June 3, 2018
  • Time: 9:30 am
  • Where:Departing from Renfrew Skytrain Station in Vancouver, ends at Burnaby City Hall.

Community Bike Tour

  • What:Free and fun activities include a community bike fair, a bike show by Trials Starts, an obstacle course, “Challenge Your Friend” races, bike decoration and repair stations, prizes and more. Come with or without your bike to participate.
  • When: Friday, June 8, 2018
  • Time: 6 to 9 pm
  • Where: Gilmore Community School – 50 South Gilmore Avenue, Burnaby

Urban Shift

  • What: Urban Shift explores two perspectives on the Vancouver urban landscape. The works are shaped by personal relationships to the city, and expressed through manipulated photographic images and painting. Featuring the works of Carolina de la Cajiga and Martha Jablonski-Jones, and is hosted and organized by the Burnaby Arts Council.

Wild About Burnaby Lake

  • What: Learn how to bring more nature to Burnaby with free workshops, invasive species pulls and exhibits by environmental stewardship partners. Cash only charity barbecue provided by the Burnaby Firefighters Charitable Society.

Jeff Ladouceur: Pearl Path

  • What: A new exhibit by Jeff Ladouceur, a prominent figure within Canada’s tradition of contemporary drawing.

Burnaby Chalk Art Experience

  • What: Watch local and international street painters create masterful chalk art as they transform the pavement into a colourful gallery. Also featuring a performance by  Bobs and Lolo. Rain or Shine.

Father’s Day at Burnaby Village Museum

Hart House Long Table Dinner

Harry Jerome International Track Classic

  • What: 2018 marks the 35th anniversary of the Vancouver Sun Harry Jerome International Track Classic and to celebrate, will be held over two days for the first time. The expanded format of Canada’s longest running track meet will see the annual event be held in conjunction with the Team Sprint Challenge, a ten-event dual meet between the fastest sprinters from Canada and China.
