Ndidi Onukwulu

  • What: ​British Columbian Ndidi Onukwulu won Maple Blues New Artist of the Year award in 2007, and has performed her unique music around the world ever since.

Coast Salish Demo & Stories Featuring Brandon Gabriel

  • What: Brandon Gabriel is a multi-talented contemporary mixed media artist who specializes in painting, drawing, illustration, graphic design, architectural design concepts, public art installations and photography. His work has been exhibited in the UK, Hong Kong, US and across Canada. The demonstration will include Brandon making a traditional Coast Salish drum as well as telling stories.

For the Love of Nature

  • What: ​Celebrate nature with family and loved ones on Family Day weekend.  Enjoy arts and crafts activities that expand your ability to observe and appreciate nature.

Family Day at the Carousel

  • What: Enjoy Family Day at Burnaby Village Museum, with a children’s entertainer, children’s art activities, heritage games, and unlimited carousel rides.
  • When: Monday, February 12, 2018

Family Day Winter Festival

  • What: ​​Enjoy a pancake breakfast, ice skating, live entertainment, crafts and more on Family Day.

Literary Friends Speed Chatting

  • What: Bring two of your favourite books, or movies based on books, that you would love to tell a new friend about. You’ll have five minutes to chat with each person in the room about your favourites and theirs. A librarian will host the event and help you place holds on the new recommended reads. Light refreshments served, space is limited to 12 participants.

Chinese New Year Toonie Skate

  • What: Celebrate Chinese New Year with ice skating, face painting, crafts and games.

Metamorphosis Butoh

  • What: Choreographed by Argentinian artist Gustavo Collini-Sartor, Metamorphosis Butoh explores the spirit of death and rebirth, a recurring theme in the Japanese aesthetic of Butoh. Inspired by the work of Kazuo Ohno, co-founder of Butoh, this dance stems from the premise that transformation is essential to the continuum of life and personal growth.

Il Barbiere di Siviglia (The Barber of Seville)

  • What: ​Burnaby Lyric Opera presents The Barber of Seville, Gioacchino Rossini’s comic masterpiece filled with romance, deception, mistaken identities and glorious music.
