Songs, Stories and Sweet Treats

What: Glenburn Soda Fountain and Confectionery hosts local children’s entertainer Mike Bryden for an interactive afternoon of stories and original songs. Parents get in for free, and coffee and snacks will be available for purchase. Tickets include a free scoop of ice cream.

Deck the Heights

What: The Heights Merchants Association is starting a new festive tradition this year – Deck the Heights. Everyone is welcome to vote for the Best Window Display among participating businesses from December 7 to 20. Santa Claus and his elf will also help launch Deck the Heights on December 7.

Burnaby Christmas Craft Fair

What: The fifth annual Burnaby Christmas Craft Fair features local handmade items, live music, and a number of raffles and prizes. Proceeds from the event go towards the music program at Burnaby Central Secondary School.

Tales of a Charlie Brown Christmas

What: Jerry Granelli, drummer for the Vince Guaraldi Trio that recorded the original A Charlie Brown Christmas album back in 1965, shares stories about working on the album plus plays songs from the holiday classic with his band, The Jerry Granelli Trio.

Winter Fun at Willingdon

What: Willingdon Community Centre hosts an evening of Winter Fun on December 12. Attendees will enjoy arts and crafts, festive movies, and games. Plus Santa will be available for photos throughout the event.

Burnaby Firefighters Breakfast in Support of the Angel Toy Drive

What: The Burnaby Firefighters host their eighth annual Pancake Breakfast in support of the Burnaby Christmas Bureau’s Angel Toy Drive and the CKNW Kid’s Fund on December 13. Attendees can bring a new toy or cash donation to receive a free pancake breakfast served by Burnaby Firefighters. There will also be live entertainment throughout the morning.

In the BAG Family Sundays

What: Visit Burnaby Art Gallery for a different family-friendly art project this fall. December’s project is Wayfinding with Water.

Winter Crafts at Cameron: Noisy Makers for New Year’s Eve

What: Bring a young crafter to make a noisemaker for New Year’s Eve! Supplies will be provided, and attendees are welcome to drop by anytime between 2 and 3 pm. All children 10 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Heritage Christmas

Heritage Christmas/Burnaby Village Museum

What: Take a trip back to holidays past at Burnaby Village Museum with Heritage Christmas. See vintage-themed displays, listen to live music, and enjoy theatre performances. There will also be crafts for children, baking in the Farmhouse, and visits with Father Christmas.

Echoes

What: The Burnaby Art Gallery presents Echoes, an exhibition that questions our own contributions to a shared futurity through videoworks, digital prints, and sculpture.
