Police are reminding road users to respect speed limits, especially in the winter when conditions are hazardous and less-than-ideal.

The reminder comes after the Burnaby RCMP impounded a driver who was caught going double the speed limit and as a result, will lose his vehicle for seven days.

Police tweeted that the driver “was caught dong 105 km/h in a 50 km/h zone entering a residential area.”

The RCMP did not mention where or at what time of day the driver was caught, however, he was given a $368 ticket and had his vehicle impounded for a week.

According to ICBC, police can issue a fine ranging from $368 to $483 for excessive speeding. The infraction also carries three points towards a personā€™s Driver Risk Premium (DRP).
