Boeser trade coming? Carolina has interest in Vancouver Canucks winger

It’s looking likely that the Vancouver Canucks will trade Brock Boeser today, but where will he end up?

The Carolina Hurricanes may be a good bet, according to CHEK’s Rick Dhaliwal.

“I was told last night that this was gearing up for a trade,” Dhaliwal said on Friday’s edition of Donnie and Dhali. “Boeser has a no-trade [clause], so his camp is sorting through potential places to be traded… One team to keep an eye on is Carolina because they’ve been after him for quite some time. They do like him.”

Dhaliwal was clear to say that he isn’t reporting a trade, but Carolina has liked Boeser for a “long time.”

The Hurricanes are reportedly close to trading Mikko Rantanen to the Dallas Stars, so perhaps Boeser serves as a replacement.

Boeser is a pending unrestricted free agent, and it doesn’t sound like he was ever close to signing a contract extension with the Canucks. The Minnesota native reportedly rejected a five-year contract worth $8 million per year earlier in the season.

Boeser, 28, has spent his entire nine-year NHL career in Vancouver and ranks 10th all-time in franchise history in goals (197) and 12th in points (421).
