The Toronto Blue Jays have bolstered their bullpen in a trade with the Baltimore Orioles.
It was announced on Tuesday afternoon that the Jays had traded for Orioles right-hand pitcher Seranthony DomiĚnguez in exchange for pitching prospect Juaron Watts-Brown.
The deal comes at an ideal time as the Jays are currently two games into a four-game series in Baltimore. The Blue Jays confirmed that DomiĚnguez has reported to the team and will be active for tonight’s game against the Orioles.

The 30-year-old reliever has a 3.24 ERA through 41.2 innings pitched this season, allowing 32 hits and 15 earned runs through that span. The Dominican has also recorded 54 strikeouts this year.
DomiĚnguez is set to become a free agent at the end of the 2025 season.
In a corresponding roster move, the Blue Jays have designated Chad Green for assignment.

This move comes after rumours on Tuesday morning that the Jays were talking to the Pittsburgh Pirates about a potential trade for relief pitching. While that still may come to fruition, pulling the trigger on the DomiĚnguez trade shows that Toronto management is turning over every stone possible to boost the team.
Given that the Orioles sport a 49-58 record and sit 13.5 games back of the AL East-leading Blue Jays, it makes sense that Baltimore would be in a position to sell off a pending free agent like DomiĚnguez.
Trading away Watts-Brown is not insignificant for the Jays, as the 23-year-old was the #10 prospect in the organization. He was initially taken in the third round of the 2023 MLB draft by Toronto and has split time between AA and High-A this season.
We’ll see if the Jays have more up their sleeves ahead of the MLB trade deadline, which is set to pass on July 31 at 6 p.m. EDT/3 p.m. PDT.
