Toronto Blue Jays ALDS playoff ticket prices are skyrocketing

The Toronto Blue Jays will play postseason baseball this weekend, and the cost to get into the Rogers Centre is hefty.

There is no question that Toronto baseball fans are excited to watch the Blue Jays in the postseason. This is the first time since 2016 that the team will play in the ALDS, and expectations are sky-high after winning the AL East division for the first time since 2015.

Add that hype to the Blue Jays’ opponent being either one of the New York Yankees or Boston Red Sox, and suddenly, you have one of the hottest ticket events in the entire country.

Toronto will host three ALDS games starting on Saturday, and the cost of tickets has exploded. As of Tuesday afternoon, the cheapest tickets available on Ticketmaster are $308 for 500-level seats in Game 1.

The most expensive tickets for Game 1 are going for upwards of $3000 for seats in the Ticketmaster Lounge at Rogers Centre. This is also the cheapest of the three ALDS games being played in Toronto.

Fans wanting to get inside Rogers Centre for any of those three games will have to pony up. The cheapest prices for each Blue Jays home game are as follows:

Game 1: $308 (Section 512)
Game 2:
$317 (Section 512)
Game 5:
$333 (Section 512)

Ticket prices get more expensive the further you go into the series. Since the ALDS is a best-of-five series, the only elimination game that could be held in Toronto will be Game 5. Games 3 and 4 will be held in either Fenway Park or Yankee Stadium.

If the Yankees advance to the ALDS, Canadian baseball fans wanting to travel to New York City to watch the Jays will hit a snag. Ticketmaster is currently limiting ticket sales to potential ALDS games at Yankee Stadium to fans in the states of New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Connecticut.

This will be determined based on credit card billing addresses, and those who don’t meet that criteria will have their ticket purchases cancelled and refunded.

This is a policy that is sometimes implemented for big sports events, and it’s usually justified as something that can help curb ticket-scalping. Luckily, it does not appear the Red Sox will be implementing this strategy at Fenway Park games if Boston advances to face the Blue Jays in the ALDS.

If these games are a bit too pricey, you can still catch the Jays in action for a few postseason tune-up games at Rogers Centre for much cheaper tickets.

It’s a good time to be a baseball fan in Toronto, and those wanting to watch the action live at the Rogers Centre should probably act fast, as it’s likely those tickets will go fast.
