One of the few video rental places that are actually still open, Black Dog Video, is asking for your help in order to stay alive.
In an age where video rentals seem to be a thing of the past, Black Dog insists they still have something to offer.
Their array of classic movies combined with their ability to rent out new releases may just hit you over the head with nostalgia.
Unfortunately, the world of Netflix, Video on Demand and pirating movies have started to drown out these video rental companies over the past few years, and Black Dog has definitely felt the impact.
Black Dog has been open in Vancouver for 18 years, and they say that they “work hard to source out the rare, fantastic and amazing films that make up such a rich fabric of the cinematic experience.”
Their importance to film-loving Vancouverites has inspired them to create the “In Dog We Trust!” campaign.
The goal of the campaign is to raise $20,000 by August 31, a goal that they are missing by over $15,000 currently.
A number of different options on the website allow people to donate anywhere between $1 and $10,000, each one giving the contributor a different prize, such as a number of movie rentals, a t-shirt, or a tote bag to name a few.
So whether you feel guilty about that movie you illegally downloaded last night or you’re a film fanatic, Black Dog needs your help.
